Shintaido is a transformational body discipline rooted in Japanese martial arts.
Shintaido includes the practice of a fluid style of karate, boh (the six foot staff), jo (the monk’s walking stick), and bokuto (wooden sword). We do meditation and empty hand practices that emphasize awareness and flowing motion.
Of course, because it is a body discipline, reading about Shintaido will only take you so far. Visitors are always welcome to drop in on classes, which are held throughout the week in several Bellingham locations.
While all classes integrate Shintaido principles, each class emphasizes a different aspect of the art. (One might focus on meditation, while another emphasizes moving with the bo.)
